Soft Sage Layers

Soft Sage Layers

Soft Sage Layers is the name we've given our line of olive eggers with a heavy bloom. I have meticulously selected and crossbred to produce this line, and am thrilled with the heavy blooms these hens lay over their eggs! The birds are elegant, light framed, and come in a variety of feather patterns. Many of the hens have a silver look to them. The roosters often have a bit of a crest and beautiful varied feathers. These lovely layers are flighty. They will likely do very well in a free range setting, but I do suggest training them to return to the coop every night before setting them free.

Every pullet for our 2023-2024 lines lay an egg with a heavy bloom! Approximately 1/2 of these birds will continue laying heavy blooms over their eggs throughout their full laying cycle, while the other 1/2 will produce these beautiful green eggs with a lighter bloom as their laying cycle continues. You can read more about our heavily bloomed "Soft Sage Layers" on my Blog and on our Instagram page.

Although they are not lap chickens, I love watching the inquisitive nature of these elegant birds. These Soft Sage eggs are definite gems in our egg baskets! These birds have added quite the fun egg color/bloom genetics to our Woodland olive egger line, as well!
